The Android 4.4 KitKat version was recently announced and it is soon to be officially launched by Google when they would be coming up with the next version of Nexus, the Nexus 5 device. But it would always be a guessing game for the users, to see whether the 4.4 update would be coming to their device or not. With most of the high-end devices that were launched recently, one can easily expect that they would be receiving the KitKat update, but for the earlier devices, you will have to wait to see whether the manufacturer is deciding to send the update and whether the device hardware would be able to support it.
For now, keep checking the list below (updated daily) as soon as we get the information from the sources on the devices which are going to get the next big version of Android OS.

Recently, specifications of alleged Galaxy S4 Zoom successor too appeared on graphics benchmark database GFXBench's website. Sporting model number SM-C115, the purported Galaxy S5 Zoom comes with a 20MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing camera, capable of 1080p video recording.

The phone sports a 4.8-inch 720p display, and is powered by a 1.3GHz Samsung Exynos 5 Hexa processor with ARM Mali-T624 graphics, and 2GB RAM. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat.

The reports from PhoneArena states that. Model numbers if some LG Optimus G Pro models are being test with Android 4.4 OS. It is also pointed out that the LG Optimus 4X HD will not get any more updates and will be running on Android 4.1.2 that is powered by NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, as it has completed its software upgrade cycle.
There are many other devices that would be getting KitKat release like LG Optimus F3, LG G Pad 8.3, LG G Pro Lite, LG Optimus F7, LG Optimus L9 ll, LG Optimus Vu ll and LG Optimus Vu lll, LG Vu III and few unannounced models such as LG-D315 and LG LS740. But this update will be only coming after all the testing on these models and these testing should also be favorable to the models. If LG feels this Update is favorable, we will definitely see Android 4.4 rolling very soon to the LG devices.

LG G3 to have 5.5-inch Quad HD Display, Advanced Personalization Options – Leaks & Rumors

Earlier, it was some rumors about the 2K resolution in the next flagship device from LG, but now we have some confirmed details from the sources that the LG G3 is going to have a 5.5-inch Quad HD resolution display. To add to this, the device would be coming with some advanced personalization options for the users. Now with this resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels, the pixel density hits a new high – 534 PPI. LG had showcased a new display last year, with the pixel density of 538 PPI, so there’s a possibility it is the same display which is company is now using in the G3.
LG won’t be the first brand to use a Quad HD display, because the Oppo Find 7 which was announced yesterday, has the same screen size and resolution. With regards to the personalization, it would be something related to Google Now and the personal assistance, but there is no word on whether it is Google Now or some custom LG software which we might be seeing. The device is expected to be made official around the end of second quarter of 2014, so we will have to wait to find more details.

Earlier: LG G3 Rumored Specifications – Octa-core Chipset, 2k Display and 16MP Camera
The LG fans surely have some good rumors to rejoice about, as a few details about the next flagship G series Android smartphone are spread around, and the LG G3 is expected to come with a display having the 2K resolution, and along with that, there would be an octa-core chipset powering the smartphone. How good would that be? we already know how good the LG G2 is, with the unique (but really not a necessary change) design and the internal powering which provides a good performance.
Also known as the Quad HD, the display would be of the screen resolution 2560 x 1440 pixels, and that is not a part of more than a couple devices till now, and it hasn’t gone out of the Chinese market yet, thus LG coming up with that would be a direct competition against the Samsung Galaxy S5, which too is expected to come with a similar display, although the technology used by LG was an IPS one, while Samsung uses the Super AMOLED one.
LG G2
The LG G2 was one of the best Android smartphones for the year 2013. How good would the G3 be?
With the G2 not receiving the appreciation the company expected, especially because of the awkwardly placed buttons, LG isn’t turning back because the G2 promised a good future for the Android lineup from the company, and the reason for that being the excellent Snapdragon 800 processor, and the 13-megapixel camera with the Optical Image Stabilization. What LG is trying to include in the G3, except for the display, is something which Gionee is already boasting about, in their latest flagship device – the Gionee Elife E7. But Gionee might not already see the similar craze because of the limited number of places where it is making the devices available.
Just like LG launched the G2 in the second half of 2013 (September 2013), they could be launching the successor to it in the second half of 2014. Let us see how good LG would be this time, after getting not-so-good market share this year with the disappointing numbers of LG G2 sales. To sum it up for now, here are the rumored specs:
  • Quad HD display – 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution
  • Octa-core chipset
  • 16-megapixel camera

Is Galaxy Note 3 Worth Your Money?

With all the hype about the Galaxy gear, and the latest features in Note 3, Samsung has come out all guns blazing trying to promote its new flagship product, the Galaxy Note 3. But, if you already own Galaxy Note 1 or 2, is it a worthy upgrade? Well, it depends upon a number of factors.
Samsung-Galaxy-Note-3
I had been using Galaxy Note 1 for over 24 months, and waiting for a worthy upgrade, and for past few weeks, it was behaving little weird, I had lost my stylus, and the battery had deteriorated, no wonder my eyes were on Sony Xperia Ultra and Z1 right from the word go, but three things totally turned me off -
xperia-z-ultra
1. Lack of Screenshot and Stylus option
2. Moulded design, which means you can’t replace the battery
3. Annoyingly expensive screen – if you drop it, then you can kiss good-bye to 25k INR in India! (ouch – take that!)
4. No flash in Xperia Ultra. Though the massive screen is fascinating, and so are its killer looks, I primarily use my phone as a business phone on-the-move and heavily use stylus, and use pie charts, screenshots, and stuff, and in couple of minutes I knew that Xperia wasn’t for me. Additionally, I’ve already got my good old Sony Xperia X10i, and except the sexy design, and 20 MP camera, I couldn’t find anything worth shelling 40k+. So, if you prefer utility over looks, and camera, then Xperia Ultra/Z1 isn’t for you!

I saw Nokia Lumia 925, Blackberry Z10, and HTC One X as well as Butterfly, and quickly realized that probably all of them are sinking ships, and I don’t even know if these companies would continue manufacturing smartphones 2-3 years down the line in Indian markets.
Additionally, I am habituated to Android, and Samsung phones in particular now, so I was in no mood to move to something totally different altogether. In the end, it was a fairly simple decision to choose it over rest of the 40k+ phones, and I exchanged by Note 1 for Rs 11,000, bringing down my net cost to under 40k mark!
Noteworthy Features
Samsung has enhanced the included Gallery application with the ability to create a video clip, and
- 13 megapixel camera with LED flash
- Air View and Air Gesture option
- NFC, and all kinds of connectivity.

So, Galaxy Note 3 is indeed worth your money if you need a business phone with all the sophisticated features, stylus, and such stuff, but if you’re upgrading from Note 1/2 to Note 3, you won’t really feel the difference unless you plan on using Air View, and NFC connectivity to hook up a smartphone watch etc. If you don’t have a Note 2 yet, then it may not be a bad pick either!
And, oh by the way, Samsung isn’t giving any flip covers for Galaxy Note 3, so you’ll have to order one for yourself too!
If you’re ordering online in India, you may want to look at FlipKart’s exclusive offers, and enticing discount/exchange deals this festive season.

Motorola launches Moto X in India at Rs 23,999
Motorola has launched its flagship smartphone, Moto X, in the Indian market. Just like Moto G, the new smartphone will be available in India only via e-commerce website Flipkart.

The company is offering the Moto X variant with plastic back panel at Rs 23,999; Motorola is offering back panels in five colours, namely black, white, turquoise, blue and red. The models with wood finish (walnut and teak) have been priced at Rs 25,999.

As per the listings on Flipkart, only the Moto X variants in white and black colours are available for purchase at present. The other versions can only be pre-ordered at present and will be delivered to buyers in the second week of April. Flipkart is providing launch-day offers for Moto X, such as cashback of Rs 1,000 for those who buy the device on EMIs, 70% off on body cases and 100% cashback to select buyers.

Moto X is the only flagship smartphone by a major company that aims to lure customers with the promise of optimized user experience instead of beefed up hardware. The device has a 4.7-inch HD screen, 1.7GHz dual-core processor, 10MP camera and 2GB RAM. It is among the few smartphones in the country that run on Android 4.4 operating system and has a water-resistant coating. Buyers get free 50GB of Google Drive storage with Moto X.

Motorola has not rolled out the Moto Maker online tool, which allows buyers to customized their Moto X smartphone at the time of ordering, in India.

The smartphone comes with a unique always-on voice assistant that listens to the commands even if the user is not operating the handset. It also comes with a Quick Capture feature, which allows users to jerk their wrist twice to open the camera app. The camera of Moto X also features ClearPixel technology that allows 75% more light to enter, thu

Apple discontinues iPad 2, re-launches iPad 4

Apple discontinues iPad 2, re-launches iPad 4
Apple, which has introduced the new 8GB variant of iPhone 5C, also re-launched the fourth-generation iPad the same day. This tablet replaces the ageing iPad 2 in Apple's lineup and will be available only with 16GB storage option.
While the iPad 4 is listed on Apple's India website, the pricing has not been revealed yet. In the US market, the Wi-Fi-only version of iPad 4 has been priced at $399, whereas the model with 4G will cost $529.
Approximately a month ago, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that Apple will phase out iPad 2 in March 2014 and replace it with the fourth-generation iPad.
Even before this re-launch, iPad 4 was available in the Indian market via several e-commerce and retail majors. The market price of the Wi-Fi model of iPad 4 is around Rs 28,000, whereas the 4G-capable model retails at Rs 35,000 in India. It is expected that Apple will price the two variants around the same price points in the country.
iPad 2 was the most underpowered device in Apple's portfolio, offering three-year-old hardware at a starting price of 28,900. Many users on web forums reported performance issues with the device when they updated it to iOS 7, the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system.
The company, in fact, raised the price of iPad 2's base variant by Rs 4,400 last year, when it launched iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display. The price of the 4G variant of iPad 2 was raised by Rs 5,000 to Rs 37,900 at the same time.
Compared to iPad 2, the fourth-generation iPad has a higher-resolution display, faster processor and better camera.

Nokia X: First impressions

Nokia X: First impressions

Nokia has finally launched its much-awaited Android powered smartphone, Nokia X, in the Indian market. Targeted at the budget segment and priced just above the full-featured Asha phones, it is part of Nokia's efforts to counter low-end Android phones which are very popular in the country. Nokia X borrows a lot from both Nokia's Lumia phones as well as the Asha series in terms of design and function. We got a chance to spend some time with the phone at the launch event, here are our initial impressions of the device.

At first glance, Nokia X looks like a mix of Nokia Lumia 520/525 and Asha 503 as all these phones sport the same rectangular design and a polycarbonate colourful shell, which is a bit chunky. As soon as you notice the Asha-like capacitive button with the arrow label, you realize it is not a Windows Phone device. We got a Red colour unit to play with and the shell had a matte finish.

The front of the phone sports a 4-inch WVGA LCD display (480 X 800p, 233ppi), which looks better than the displays of Asha phones. One of the reasons you don't notice the low resolution of the display is the phone's user interface which majorly consists of tiles similar to Windows Phone.

The right edge of the phone features the volume rocker and Power/ Screen lock keys that also sport the same colour as the phone. The micro-USB port is placed at the bottom edge, while the 3.5mm headset jack sits at the top.

The back of the phone sports a 3MP camera lens and a speaker outlet. There's no LED flash so don't expect the phone to take good pictures in low-light conditions. The body shell is removable and hides a battery compartment that houses a 1,500mAh removable battery, two slots for sim cards (micro-sim) and a microSD card slot.

Nokia X comes with modest hardware, under the hood. The phone is powered by a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 512MB RAM. It comes with 4GB internal storage that can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.

The phone runs a highly customized version of Android (based on Android Open Source Project 4.1.2) that has been stripped of Google services and apps including the Play Store. Nokia has bundled a number of apps with the phone including BBM, Facebook, Twitter, Skype, and Opera. The phone doesn't include the Google Play store but instead offers Nokia Store for downloading apps. Third-party Android app stores can also be installed and used.

The phone's interface is very different from regular Android phones and borrows some features from Asha platform and Windows Phone. The UI is split into Fastlane and a tile-based launcher. The Fastlane aggregates notifications, open and frequently used apps, and personalizes these as per the user's preference. The other screen, accessible by swiping left or right, includes tiles (some of them being live tiles) that are similar to the Windows Phone start screen. Some of the tiles can even be resized. However, unlike Windows Phone there's no app list, and as you install apps the phone keeps on adding tiles to the same launcher. So, be ready to scroll more.

There's a pull-down tray similar to Android and Asha phones that only houses toggles for phone settings. The UI may take some time getting used to, however, it helps Nokia in differentiating the user experience from other Android phones.

Nokia X comes with Nokia's own app store, HERE Drive and Maps for location service, and Nokia MixRadio music service. Nokia is also offering 10GB free space on Microsoft's OneDrive cloud storage service.

In our brief use, we did not encounter any issues while navigating through the Fastlane and the app launcher screens and there was no lag while launching apps. We'll need to spend more time with the phone to comment on its multitasking abilities. Given the modest specifications, we don't expect the phone to run high-end graphics rich Android games.

Overall, the phone appears to offer a good experience for a budget device, complete with a rich ecosystem of apps and services, and a utilitarian yet sturdy form factor. We'll have a detailed review of the smartphone for you soon.
